Slide the City's 1,000-foot water slide has been approved by City Council and will be coming to Portland, ME on August 1. Is Manchester on the hook to be the slippery event's next destination?

If you go to their website right now you can pre-register for the water slide event in Manchester that has no specific location yet, or a date. Hmmm?

Perhaps they're still deciding on which street to block off for the day. Granite St. is the obvious choice right?

Water slide prices range from the 'one slider' option of $15 and goes all the way up to a $60 'unlimited slider' ticket. Worried about injuring your face sliding on pavement for 1,000 feet? Slide the City offers you a mouth guard with purchase of admission. And a tattoo!

Participants have to slide on a tube and can bring their own, or purchase one at the event.

Those opposed to the event in Portland have complained that the event uses too much water and is a strain on the city's sewer overflow system. According to the Portland Press Herald a resident estimates 80,000 gallons of water would be used.
