4 Red Sox Facts from Last Night’s Game Against The Yankees
First and foremost, there is nothing more important than The Boston Red Sox beating The New York Yankees, especially when the Yanks are still very much alive in the postseason picture.
1. The Sox Beat the Yankees 4-3
With last night's loss, the pinstripes remain one and a half games out of the AL East lead behind Toronto and hold a 4 game advantage for the first Wild Card spot.
2. David Ortiz Hit Career Home Run Number 495
Only 26 sluggers in the history of major league baseball have hit 500 or more homeruns. Our beloved 'Big Papi' belted another one last night and is now just 5 dingers away from this major milestone.
3. Alejandro De Aza Was Traded
One of the few bright spots of this dismal year, De Aza had been an excellent addition to the 2015 squad after they acquired him of waivers from Baltimore. He was traded to The San Francisco Giants for lefty pitcher Luis Ysla.
4. ANOTHER Fan Was Struck By A Bat
In the 7th inning of last night's game, Yankee catcher Brian McCann's errant bat flew into the stands and struck a woman in the elbow. She received medical attention then she stayed to watch the rest of the game with an ice pack on the injured arm. This will be a HUGE story in the off season as I believe the Sox front office will be at the very forefront of insuring fan safety in the 2016 season. Fenway will lead the league in protective netting after this remarkably unfortunate year.
