Goodwill store employee Marissa Jenness was working in the Portsmouth store when she found six $100 bills inside a donated wallet.

She alerted her manager, and put the wallet in the store's safe. The store manager, A.J.Carter called Portsmouth police.

According to a story on seacoastonline:

"officer Andre Wassouf responded. Wassouf said he examined the wallet and noticed some ink from a driver’s license, that had once been stored inside, had transferred onto a plastic window in the wallet. He said he could decipher a first name, part of a last name and part of a Hampton address. The officer said he entered the bits of information into a police computer database, found a match with a phone number and left a message asking the resident to return his call. Through an electronic search and some phone calls, Wassouf said he also learned that the wallet owner had recently died in Exeter, so he asked Exeter police to go to that address and leave a message."

Turns out, the woman who donated the wallet, Kathy Brickley, contacted the police, and the $600 was returned.

Apparently the wallet was her late husband's John, who had recently passed, and was in a bunch of items Kathy had donated to Goodwill.

Kathy Brickley was very appreciative of the efforts of everyone involved.

The Shark is happy to shine a spotlight on Marissa Jenness and all the officers who played a role in this happy outcome as well.
