While I was watching 'A Christmas Story' yesterday, (for the 457th time I think), a bit of curiosity struck me about the above quote from The Old Man. Upon further review (football parlance) I uncovered a ton of misinformation within this conversation at The Parker's dinner table.

This scene was supposed to have taken place a couple days before Christmas of 1940. The Chicago Bears had already trounced The Washington Redskins in the NFL Championship Game on December 8th of that year. (73-0!)

Not only did they miss the Green Bay game by 2 whole months, The Old Man referring to Da 1940 Bears as Chipmunks is as inaccurate as it is insulting. That team unleashed the biggest butt-whooping in the history of professional championships! He must have still been in a delusional state due to the loss of his major award, it's the only reasonable excuse.
