For years I've been telling this story about Sunday, December 24th, 1987. I was at my Grandparent's house wrapping gifts with a roaring fire in the fireplace and very important NFL games on the Magnavox .

I remember The New England Patriots would have made it into the playoffs if the Indianapolis Colts AND The Cleveland Browns both lost and as luck would have it, both games were simultaneously on two channels.

And wouldn't you know it, both rival teams were victorious after having promising early deficits. Good things happen very rarely when your rooting for other teams to win in order to benefit yours.

The only problem is... Sunday December 20th and Sunday December 28th were the actual days according to every calendar I've researched.

And every NFL schedule of the strike addled 1987 season does not match up well with this story at all. Even watching Brent and Irv (above) has left me more confused.

Well, if anybody has any clue what I have been misremembering all these years, I'd be thrilled to find out what the actual circumstances were. But for the time being, I'll choose to remember it fondly as one of the best Christmas Eves that existed (if only in my dreams).
