The Kansas City Royals won their first pennant in almost 30 years. Who would have thunk it? Not only did one of my friends thunk it, he put $20 on it and now I'm a few hours away from cashing it in at Orleans Hotel and Casino.

This is a great way to supplement the Vegas bankroll. I had $20 on the 2005 Seattle Seahawks to win the NFC Championship and it completely paid for all meals and my ticket to see Wayne Newton at the Flamingo. (If only this ticket we're mine.)

I have no idea why this ticket didn't pay 20-1 or even 50-1 as the chances of The KC Royals winning the AL crown seemed like a much, much longer shot back in February. But as they say, all those huge hotels ablaze in neon 24/7 aren't in the business of losing money.
