(Portsmouth, NH) - The Portsmouth Police Department will continue their efforts to apprehend drunk drivers by conducting sobriety checkpoints this weekend.

The Rockingham County Superior Court has authorized the checkpoint.

Portsmouth Police Chief Stephen Dubois says Sobriety Checkpoints have proven successful in the apprehension of drunk drivers in Portsmouth.

Motorists are forewarned that Portsmouth Police will make every effort to catch drunk drivers, and ask that patrons of bars and restaurants in the Seacoast area make the right choice; use a designated driver, call a cab or a friend.

Police remind motorists that when you drink and drive, you risk your live and put others' lives in danger.
