Hub hockey fans rejoice as the official announcement was made that The Boston Bruins will host The NHL Winter Classic at Gillette Stadium on New Year's Day 2016.

Putting aside the fact that no other NHL team has hosted multiple classics, their scheduled opponent should really kick the hype into high gear. Yes folks, our beloved B's will face off against The HATED Montreal Canadiens. You shouldn't need a video to get your adrenaline going for this matchup, but I've added one below just in case.

These Winter Classic Games are just that. The action is more like a tense playoff game and the larger crowds roaring in an outdoor environment just brings each game to another level. The best proof of this is footage of the last seconds of the 2010 Winter Classic at Fenway Park.

Unfortunately, at this time, there are restrictions for buying tickets for this event. Here is the official statement from the league.

Information on an exclusive ticket pre-sale for Bruins season-ticket holders, Canadiens season-ticket holders and Patriots season-ticket holders will be sent to those groups by each club in the coming days. This opportunity is for a limited number of tickets to the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic® and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. Information regarding ticket availability for the general public will be released at a later date.

Despite the early ticket purchasing obstacles and the fact that it's 90 degrees out, I'm sufficiently hyped for January 1st at Gillette Stadium.
