Nobody wants to think that the treat they give to their furry friend could hurt them in any way.

That is why Petco is pulling Chinese-made treats off the shelves due to concerns that they may have poisoned and killed thousands of dogs, according to the Associated Press.

The jerky and rawhide treats may be responsible for thousands of sickened pets and even deaths. The FDA received over 4,800 complaints of pet illness, but a solid link between the treats and afflictions has not been found yet.

The American Veterinary Medical Association estimates that 36.5 percent of households own a dog.
