Do you suffer from tension headaches? Those are the most common type of headache and it seems, you can cure a tension headache with a wooden pencil, at least according to Aesthetic specialist Dr. Jane Leonard.

Dr. Jane Leonard spoke with The Express and said that placing a wooden pencil between your teeth without biting it can help relax your jaw muscle. Dr. Leonard says tension headaches,

are typically caused by spasms of the muscles in the face, neck, jaw and scalp. Patients often hold their temples to indicate where the source of the pain is.

This is due to spasm of a fan-shaped muscle found across the temples spreading the back of the head called temporalis.

These spasms are also related to the jaw muscles.

So, by relaxing the jaw muscle, the tension headache goes away. Obviously not in all cases, but it's certainly worth a shot if you suffer from tension headaches.
