The shop will also be giving away free ice cream on April 1st. No joke.

After 30 years, Golick's Dairy Bar on Dover Point Road will re-open April 1st as Cowlicks Dairy Bar.

The original owners have split up the Golick's franchises. The Rochester and Barrington ice cream shops will remain Golick's.

Cowlick's, meanwhile, will open on April 1 and have a great offer. In an article posted at Fosters.com, owner Lisa Thompson says:

Cowlicks will be offering free ice cream all day on April 1.

“No, it’s not an April Fools joke,” Thompson said. “We’re really going to have free ice cream. We’ll be open from noon to 8 p.m. and we’ll be giving free cones all day. We want to encourage people to branch off and try something new instead of sticking with plain chocolate or vanilla. We’ll be giving away free soft serve cones, all of our flavor swirls will be free, and I plan to offer free flavors of hard ice cream as well so people can try some of our specialty flavors.”

Cowlick's will also debut a new mascot, a cow named 'Moo'.

I have enjoyed Golick's Ice Cream at all their locations over the years, and will continue to frequent their locations. And since the new Cowlick's is located close to the 'Shark Tank', I'll be in line for free ice cream April 1.
