(Dover, NH) - With temperatures expected in the mid 90's and a heat index of over 100 degrees, Dover officials have opened a cooling center for residents who need a place to beat the heat.

The McConnell Center Cafeteria will be open from 7 am to 9 pm today and tomorrow for residents needing a place to go. Entrance to the cooling center is through door #3 to the McConnell Center and checking in at the Recreation Department front desk.

Dover Fire Chief Eric Hagman reminds residents to check on any elderly neighbors. He also says people should limit any outdoor activity, wear light clothing and stay hydrated.
