Elton John says he's going to retire from the road... right after a 300-date world tour. He is 70 after all, and has been touring for 50 years.

The tour is appropriately called "Farewell Yellow Brick Road, and Elton promises it will be the best tour he has ever done, according to the press release sent to us from ABC. Elton says he is quitting the road because he wants to focus on his husband and children. There have been some rumors about health problems, but he denies it.

Elton also told Anderson Cooper his farewell tour will span over the course of the next three years, as per TMZ. That means he will be 73 when he says bon voyage to the road. There has been no word on whether or not Elton will continue to make music and work on other projects.

His world tour includes a date at Boston's TD Garden on October 6th, 2018. The only other New England date (at this time) is the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut on September 19th, 2018.

Look for Elton to perform at the 2018 Grammys this Sunday night.
