Will it be a mass murderer in MA? Who puts the 'Die' in the Live Free Granite State? And Maine? I shudder to even think about it. A recent poll shows just how different Northern New England is when it comes to their favorite horror movie villains.

According to this new Frontier Comm. Poll, Maine, NH, Vermont and Massachusetts all have unique tastes (Dr. Hannibal Lecter reference) when it comes to horror villains.

Vermont: Dr. Hannibal Lecter

I'd have to agree with The Green Mountain State on their choice. Not only is 'Hannibal The Cannibal' terrifying, he has charisma. No other villain comes close in my humble opinion.

New Hampshire: Norman Bates

Would you believe that this independent motel owner/operator is the most popular choice? Apparently people from 12 other American States do not waste any time while showering either.

Massachusetts: Frankenstein

I swear this has to do with how slow Dr. Frank's monster staggers around. The biggest fear of anyone from The Bay State is that they'll have to wait more than two seconds to get to where they're going. 'Hey! Stretch! Move it or lose it!'

Maine: David Kessler

WHO? He's the protagonist of 'An American Werewolf in London' and is portrayed by David Naughton. Leave it to The State of Maine. They are the home of the ultimate master of terror Stephen King. Two of King's creations made this list (Pennywise and Jack Torrance) and they are Number One in seven different states.

But Maine? Maine picks the Dr. Pepper guy.

Terrifying.
