Friendly’s Ice Cream Bought by Dallas Company

This iconic New England ice cream restaurant has had it's ice cream manufacturing facilities purchased by a Dallas TX, company called Dean Foods. If you read further, you'll see that this isn't the end of the world for Friendly's fans or their local employees.

Dean Foods plans on keeping the manufacturing plant in Wilbraham, MA which is Friendly's world headquarters.

Different owners aren't anything new for these purveyors of Jim Dandys. After starting in 1935, in Springfield, MA the restaurant chain has been owned by Hershey Foods from 1979 until 1988 when they were purchased by TRC (Tennessee Restaurant Company).

Luckily, the ice cream has always tasted just as good as the first time I had it.

Dean Foods has owned the Lynn, MA based Garelick Farms for a number of years as well, so it appears that my favorite, The Reese's Pieces Sundae is in very good hands.
