These three common everyday condiments blend together to form a very tasty sauce that rivals General Tso's and it's a few million less calories per serving too*.

*Slight Exaggeration

Okay, maybe not a million calories but this sentence from Livestrong.com certainly makes my newfound trinity of sauces a much healthier option.

Reference indicates that General Tso's chicken is a high calorie, high fat food. A 30-piece, 535 gram, restaurant-style order of General Tso's chicken contains 1,578 calories, 69 grams of protein, 87 grams of fat, and 62 grams of sugar with a total carbohydrate count of 128 grams.

So, enough with the teasing. Just what are these 3 magic ingredients?

Ketchup, spicy brown mustard and APRICOT preserves! It's really easy to make because it's one part per each. I tried 3/4 of a cup for each, mixed it together and had great results.

Alright so maybe it's not as aesthetically pleasing as the normal reddish pink glow of General Tso's.

I sliced up two chicken breasts and pan fried them in a little oil.

I put the sauce on cold and that seemed to work out just nicely for flavor AND to cool off the piping hot chicken and broccoli.

Trust me, this dish tastes way better than it looks. I'd say that a cup of each condiment would easily serve a family of four. It really doesn't take much sauce to flavor the entire dish. I sopped up the remainder with the broccoli pieces and loved every bite.

Thanks to Pearla from Fit Body Transformations for giving me this 'General'ly simple chicken recipe. I'm not exactly sure of the caloric difference from the original but I have to believe it an exponentially healthier option. Enjoy!
