Are you prepared to put your phones down while driving in your car next month?

Going into effect July 1, this law makes it illegal for New Hampshire drivers to use any held device such as cellphones, tablets, GPS devices, basically any device that needs data entry.

You can use voice command.

Even if you are at a stop light, stopped in traffic or in a traffic jam, picking up your phone and posting or reading messages from a hand held device is illegal.

You may not initiate or receive a phone call, access the internet or input information into a GPS while you are behind the wheel.

If you get caught, it's a $100 fine, and can be challenged in court. You do not have to turn over your phone.

I'm glad for this law. Distracted driving is a big problem these days, as these phones have turned into little computers that take uses eyeballs off the road.
