An Epping woman has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for treatments her pitbull will need after getting shot by a neighbor.

Nichole Feezer, owner of Mya the pitbull, says her neighbor shot her dog after she got loose. Mya had to have surgery and lost part of her tongue while leaving Nichole with a hefty medical bill.

Support for Mya has been overwhelming. As of Friday morning the GoFundMe page has raised $1,800 with dog lovers from all over the state stepping up to the plate.

Some donors were kind enough to leave a heartfelt message for Mya and Nichole:

"A warm hug to you and to your sweet girl."
"I hope this helps and your sweet baby makes a speedy recovery!"
"Go Mya! I am praying for your quick healing and recovery!"
"I'm a dog mom, can't imagine what you're going through. Best Wishes to Mya & God Bless !"

The neighbor who shot the dog is now facing two felony charges - cruelty to animals and reckless conduct.

There are no two ways about it, pitbulls are a lightning rod and as Nichole wrote: "are a mistaken breed." Whether you love them or hate them, no one wants to see any dog get hurt like this.
