So, when I last left off, I was about ready to undergo my first colonoscopy.

As I wrote earlier this week, I was a bit apprehensive about undergoing my first colonoscopy.

I have since heard from many of you who feel the same way, and that's one of the reasons these folks haven't been checked out.

Well, a day after my procedure, I can tell you there's really not much to it.

The 24 hours of fasting beforehand wasn't as bad as I thought. The required one glass of water per hour from 10am-9pm probably kept me full. I also had a couple of Italian Ices' and never felt hungry.

The mix of Gatorade and a jar of MiraLAX did it's job and kept me close to the bathroom for a while, but even that wasn't too much of a hardship.

The staff at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover were great with a wonderful bedside manner. In fact, the entire hospital stay was about 2 hours, with the colonoscopy itself only taking about 20 minutes.

I have no memory of the procedure itself. I was under and brought back to before I knew what had happened.

I'm no good in doctor's offices and especially hospitals, but if I had to do this all over again next week, I would with no hesitation.

If you've been putting your check-up off for whatever reason, get on it and just do it. You'll feel better about yourself, and it's better than hearing the words "if only you had had this done earlier".
