Hampton Beach Sand Sculpting Competition is This Weekend

I love this event on Hampton Beach!  Every year, artists from all around descend upon Hampton Beach to create incredible works of art that will eventually just wash away.

According to HamptonBeach.org, the event has already begun!  200 tons of imported sand have been dropped on to Hampton Beach!  (side note:  I wonder where they get all that sand?  If it's imported, where from?)  The artists will be hard at work until the awards ceremony on the Sea Shell Stage this Saturday followed by a fireworks display!  How fun does that sound?!!

Hampton Beach isn't the only place that does this.  Sand sculpting is a THING.  Check out this video from Revere Beach:

Good luck to the participants for this year's event.  The winner will take home $3,000 cash, but their creation will be washed away.  I bet the artists who enter are just grateful for their time in the sun, but if you've seen these sculptures, you know they want to win!  Incredible stuff.  Good luck to all the participants!
