This means fewer verbal warnings and more tickets.

Last July, the hands-free law went into effect which allows law enforcement to write $100 tickets to drivers who are found to be using electronic devices without the equipment needed to have both hands free.

For the past year, many police officers have given out warnings instead of tickets, but those days are gone.

If you are caught, it's $100 for the first offense, for second-offense infractions, drivers can be given $200 tickets and if you are bagged for a third time within a two-year period, it could set you back $500.

Let's all agree to abide by the rules so we can all feel as safe as we can behind the wheel.

Of course, there's always those who'll drive just across the Maine border in order to partake.
