Growing up I used to watch Unsolved Mysteries every week and wish I could help them catch a criminal.

I used to wonder what I'd do if I ran into 7-Eleven for a soda, and spotted a criminal just standing next to the microwave nuking a burrito and sucking on a Big Gulp. I always envisioned myself playing it all cool...paying for my soda and then slipping outside to the pay phone (it was the 80's...we didn't have cell phones yet) and dropping a dime on a dangerous thug. Cops would roll up catching the scumbag mid bite. Of course he'd look angry and confused because all he really wanted to do was finish his bean and cheese burrito before heading back to the joint, where he'd be forced to eat mystery meat and drink powdered milk for the rest of his miserable existence.

Alas, I never helped solve a mystery or drop a dime on a shady looking character eating a bean burrito at 7-11. But here's some good news...YOU could help Portsmouth PD catch a criminal.

Cops say he passed a fake $100 bill earlier this month at Panera Bread on Woodbury Ave, in Portsmouth. They also pointed out his shoes as a possible clue to his identity.

So take a look. If you can help identify the guy, call Officer Peter Connor at (603) 610-7629 or connorp@cityofportsmouth.com.

If you'd rather remain anonymous...leave your tip with Seacoast Crime Stoppers at (603) 431-1199. By the way...the Portsmouth Police Department's Facebook page says there are rewards up to $1,000.00 for information leading to arrests and/or indictments.
