Lots of changes in traffic flow on Manchester's South End.

Manchester Ink Link has reported a story that I have dreaded for some time now.

Mark it on your calendar: April 18th.

It's the day that the city of Manchester will be dropping the gates on Sewall and Gold Streets, blocking access to the Gold Street and the new Walmart and forcing those coming off Beech Street and the Brown Ave/ Calef Rd areas to get back on the 293 to Exit 1 to access the new Walmart location.

They're blocking off the only two back roads that get you to the lower end of Gold Street from the South End.

Or are they?

Manchester may be blocking off two ways to get to Gold Street and the businesses in that area, but they're not blocking off the third one: President Rd.  President turns into Frontage Rd.  Once on there, you take your second left on to Ross Ave, a right at the end and you're back on Gold Street.

And just so you know......the city of Manchester will not be happy that I'm telling you about this- but I don't care.

Blocking those roads to the general public just to appease the small population of citizens that own homes in that area is utterly ridiculous.  All it's doing is protecting those people from the inevitable: commercialization.

In the meantime the rest of us should just sit in traffic on South Willow?  I don't think so.

T-Minus 13 days and counting.....don't say I didn't warn you.

Also- don't forget when you're in Manchester catch WOKQ on 97.9!!!
