Home Safety Urged During Blizzard
During a power outage, never operate a generator, grill, gas stove, or other gasoline- or charcoal-burning device inside your home, basement or garage. Use these devices outside, away from windows and doors. They produce carbon monoxide, or C-O, a colorless, odorless gas that can kill you. If you have a headache, nausea, fatigue or dizziness, and you suspect C-O poisoning, get outside into fresh air, and call 9-1-1. Be sure you have a working C-O detector – it may save your life.
