Iconic Portsmouth Theater Fundraising for Heat and A/C

I was shocked to hear that The Seacoast Rep Theater in Portsmouth has no heating system AND their A/C conked out last year. Thankfully, we can all help them out and it's really easy!

This fund on 'generosity' for The Seacoast Rep is less than 3 weeks old and they've already raised over $12,000. That is still a long way from achieving their goal of $150,000. Please give any and all you can for this great theater and it's talented hard working staff.

The more the word is spread, the easier it will become to equip this local landmark with the necessities of a functional HVAC.

Hi there. We’re the entertainers and administrators of Seacoast Repertory Theatre, and we’re about to ask  for your help. We’re a group of committed professionals on a mission to enrich the culture of the Seacoast through the shared experience of live theatre. We pursue this mission through a variety of programs for people of all ages, from our professional Mainstage which entertains over 30,000 ticket holders every year with productions of the best plays and musicals we can get our hands on, to the Portsmouth Academy of Performing Arts, which educates hundreds of young performers every year with classes and camps, to our Senior Moments program which works to bring seniors together with theatre across the region, to our Red Light Series, which works tirelessly to Keep Portsmouth Weird with interesting adult alternative programming.

We do all of this from an aging theatre with no heat or air conditioning. Our space is great, but it needs a little bit of work. For the past year we’ve been formulating a Five Year Facilities Improvement Plan to do the work that needs doing. This is the first step.

We’re looking to raise $150,000 to install a new HVAC system in our theatre to keep our audiences and actors cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

We currently spend over $49,000 a year on alternative inadequate methods of heating and cooling, in addition to whatever ticket sales we lose because people are uncomfortable.

One of the coolest things about this fundraiser is the customized rewards you will receive. My favorite thing is a 90 minute personalized children's birthday party supervised by the Rep staff complete with games, songs, cake and ice cream, full stage usage AND it's good for up to 20 kids!
