It’s National Moonshine Day! It’s History and Recent Popularity

Moonshine has been enjoying quite a renaissance over the past few years. The fact that it now has its own National holiday is quite an achievement, considering it's malfeasant past.

The Babe Ruth of Nascar, Junior Johnson, transported illegal whiskey from his families' still using cars with modified engines through the foothills of North Carolina in the 1940's and 50's.

For safety's sake (and so they wouldn't get caught) these high speed runs were always carried out in the middle of the night and that is how the term 'Moonshine' came to be.

You can now find legal moonshine at your local NH liquor store. In fact, over a dozen different brands and flavors are available for you to enjoy on this National Holiday! BE CAREFUL! It's 100 proof! (50% alcohol by volume).
