I've been obsessing over the drought monitor for quite some time and now things have gotten so dry in NH that the EXTREME color of RED has made an appearance on the map. What does this mean?

According to this report from WMUR, the Governor has asked for federal drought assistance for SEVEN NH counties including the seacoast areas of both Rockingham and Strafford county.

Over 100 communities in the Granite State have been affected by this prolonged drought and it appears that no relief is in sight as the next ten days in the forecast are to be free of any significant precipitation.

I certainly think my amateur irrigation company will be seeing a lot of action this weekend.

As for now we can only hold out hope that the change in seasons will bring us out of this desert-like summer of 2016. It is New England after all and as the maxim says "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute."
