Hendrix's former apartment in London will be open to visitors.

The third floor apartment that Hendrix bought in 1968 at 23 Brook Street in Mayfair has recently undergone a restoration.

The period of time that Jimi Hendrix lived there is considered to be a very creative period of his life, writing and jamming with many musicians.

The building is owned by the Handel House Trust, which has been using the Hendrix apartment as an office.

Alistair Stranack, Chairman of the Trust, has said "We hope that the opening of Jimi Hendrix's flat will give people an added insight into the life and work of a figure whose actions have been examined no end since his death in 1970."

Jimi shared the dwelling with his girlfriend Kathy Etchingham and often referred to the flat as "the first real home of my own"
