Dave Dombrowski, Red Sox president of baseball operations, announced today that John Farrell and his coaching staff will return for the 2017 season.

After being swept by the Indians in the playoffs a lot of folks thought Farrell would get canned, but that's not the case, he's back for 2017, after that, who knows, depends on how the next season goes. He's managed the Sox for four seasons and won the division twice.

The Sox were 78-84 last year and went 93-69 this year. A complete turnaround going from worst to first.

On a side note, how sad was it to see Big Papi play for the last time? I had to tell my 3 year old daughter that this would be the last time she saw Ortiz in the batters box, that this would be the last time she would see him playing for the Sox. She didn't understand, but it made me so sad. Big Papi is the only player on the Sox she recognizes and remembers.

Well, I guess it's time to focus on Patriots football, Bruins hockey, which starts Thursday and the Celtics.

Until next year Red Sox!
