Usually people think about being in an elevator that's rapidly going down. I've always thought that if I was in an elevator that was in free fall, and could simply time my jump right, I could survive with relatively few injuries. Of course that's forgetting that I'm falling as fast as the elevator. But I still have a plan for that situation. I don't have a plan for the situation this guy finds himself in. He's heading up at the pace of 31 floors in 15 seconds. Now, if this were an express elevator, that would be making great time. But an express elevator would probably slow down before hitting the top of the shaft. Sadly, that's not the case here. The guy ended up being treated for leg and head injuries.
