The Manchester Police Department was off by a few years, but luckily there is always someone on Twitter ready to correct mistakes.

You have to be on your toes when it comes to Twitter because every innocent mistake will be out there for the world to see.

The Manchester Police Department made a minor gaffe with their tweet Thursday morning.

History buffs will know that Alan Shepard actually landed on the moon ten years later in 1971. The police department's twitter was close because he was the first American to reach space in 1961.

Luckily, some space fans were ready to fix the department's minor gaffe.

Manchester Police soon acknowledged their mistake regarding the Derry native's journey into space.

We all make mistakes on social media whether it is a minor factual error or getting drunk and saying whatever is on our mind at the time. Since I'm always on Twitter, I am always aware that we are all just one tweet away from possible embarrassment.

It is all in good fun though, and I'm sure that whoever is managing the police department's Twitter feed will double check their space facts before posting from now on.
