According to Seacoast Online, the robbery was reported around 8:30 by an employee of the Lafayette Road store. The man, described as wearing a black hoodie and face mask, showed a pistol. The report states he fled on foot with the bag of cash, and police believed later got into a vehicle.

According to emergency radio communications at the time, the suspect was described as about 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 10 inches. Portsmouth police Lt. Mark Newport stated evidence was found near the scene, and is being analyzed.
