Logistics Specialist 1st Class Korilyn Barrett, from York, Maine is currently aboard the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson defending our country in the Pacific Ocean. This picture is of her recording herself reading bedtime stories for her children from aboard the ship as part of the United Through Reading Program.

United Through Reading is a non-profit program founded in 1989 that connects deployed service members with their children no matter how far away they are from each other.

Like you see in the picture with Korilyn, the program offers deployed parents the chance to video-record themselves reading books for their children. How cool is that?

Over one and a half million military parents, spouses and children have benefited from the program since its inception.
