I'm so psyched that I can once again see movies at The Lilac Mall Cinema! Austin Cinemas has been playing movies there for over a week now at great prices.

These are 'second run' films and you can get the listings and prices on the Facebook page. I'm reminiscing about all the movies I loved there and I'd like to rank those that I saw there on their 'first run'.

Here are my Top 3.

3. Sleepy Hollow

Usually my running joke about Tim Burton directed films is "Man, somebody turn on the lights! I can hardly see Helena Bonham Carter!" But this one was truly worth the 8 bucks. I loved the casting of Christopher Walken as the Headless Hessian of Horror.

2. Gremlins

I saw this in the summer of '84 and to this day I can't believe I had the 'noive' to watch a horror flick, considering I was 10 when I finally dared to watch The Wizard of Oz. I was 12 and it's a terrifically funny Spielberg directed classic that holds up very well.

1. The Goonies

1985. Another year goes by and another fun Spielberg movie in the summertime. I remember the Mom who chaperoned a dozen of us kids being extremely offended by the broken statue scene. Thankfully, she let us watch the rest of it.
