(Concord, NH) - Governor Maggie Hassan has ordered flags across New Hampshire to half-staff today as we remember those who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.The Governor has also proclaimed this as a Day of Remembrance in honor of the victims, first responders and service members who died in the attacks and the wars that have followed.

In Portsmouth, a ceremony will be held at 8:46 am outside the Police Headquarters/City Hall where a permanent memorial is being unveiled.

The steel I-beam artifact from the World Trade Center is a memorial to the 2,507 civilians, 72 law enforcement officers, 341 firefighters, 10 emergency medical workers and 55 military service personnel who lost their lives, or gave their lives saving others on September 11, 2001.

Portsmouth resident Tom McGuinness was the co-pilot of American Airlines flight #11, the first plane that was hijacked and flown into the twin towers.
