The building located at 224 in South Berwick might soon become the home to a bed and breakfast called the Berwick Inn.

The building has been used as storage for the Seacoast Christian School, but according to Fosters.com, work has recently started to turn the building into an inn that will have 21 rooms and a restaurant.

The building has a wonderful history. It was was built in 1798 as a private home, and then was turned into a tavern in 1816. In fact according to the article, President James Monroe had a pop there in 1817.

If and when completed, the inn will have shuttle service to the Red Barn at Outlook Farm for those who will be in town for events there.
