(Pittsfield, NH) - The U.S. Marshals Service has arrested a Pittsfield man wanted on a fugitive warrant issued by Merrimack County Superior Court for Probation Violations.

41 year old Jeffrey Nickerson was arrested after an extensive search of an apartment building on Park Street in Pittsfield, where he was found hiding inside of a refrigerator.

Jeffrey Nickerson, a registered sex offender was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Merrimack County Superior Court for Probation Violations, based on an original conviction and sentence for theft by unauthorized taking and burglary charges. Nickerson is required to register as a sex offender in the State of New Hampshire due to a 1994 conviction on 3 counts of sexual assault in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Based on the fact that Nickerson is a convicted sex offender and has an extensive criminal history, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force considers his arrest a high priority.

The NH Joint Fugitive Task Force, along with members of the Pittsfield Police Department went to Nickerson’s residence. Mr. Nickerson refused to open the door to the apartment and entry was forced. During a search of the apartment, it was discovered that Nickerson fled into an adjacent apartment. It was during a search of the second apartment that Nickerson was discovered hiding inside of a refrigerator. Nickerson was taken into custody without any further incidence and turned over to the Pittsfield Police Department for transport to the Merrimack County Jail. Nickerson will be held at the Merrimack County Jail pending his initial court appearance on June 19, 2015.

Several members agencies of the U.S. Marshals – NH Joint Fugitive Task Force assisted in the arrest of Nickerson, including; Belknap, Merrimack, Rockingham, & Strafford County Sheriff’s Offices, the Manchester and Pittsfield Police Departments, along with deputy U.S. Marshals.
