According to a man who traveled the world this New Hampshire seacoast town is among the best in the world.

The man's name is Gunnar Garfors and his claim to fame is that he's been to every country in the world. The lifestyle blog Thrillist asked him to rank the best small towns in the world since he's likely been to most of them.

Garfors used a simple ranking system "based on the people, the food, the fun, and the atmosphere." Plus the town couldn't have a population over 100,000 people. And out of fairness, no more than one town per country could appear on his list.

This guy has been EVERYWHERE, and he chose good old Portsmouth, NH as his #5 small town in the world. Hooray for Portsmouth!

Garfors says the following about New Hampshire's seaside town:

The historic seaport on the border of New Hampshire and Maine is a seafood lover's dream and leaving without eating lobster from the area should be a crime -- the quality is amazing and the prices much lower than expected. I love the small-town atmosphere in Portsmouth (it's actually one of the oldest towns in the US), and it has a nice array of shops, pubs, breweries, and restaurants. And because Maine is across the bridge to the north, and Boston a short drive to the south, there's plenty to see and do if you venture out.

As Portsmouth continues to grow and expand its cultural and culinary options the more national recognition it will continue to get. USA Today has it nominated as one of the best town food scenes in America!

It's definitely something to be proud of as a Granite Stater.
