NH Resort Offers Punxsutawny Phil Asylum after Warrant Issued

Just last week, Merrimack NH Police caused quite a stir on social media as they issued a warrant for the arrest of Punxsutawny Phil, perhaps the most famous woodland critter with a penchant for predicting seasonal meteorology.

And now, several citizens of Gilford, NH have come to the defense of this rodent. You see, Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, is currently enjoying one of the best ski seasons in history and has offered Punxsutawny Phil asylum from the arrest warrant.

The Merrimack warrant describes 'Phil' as 'Armed and Dangerous'. While I doubt that groundhogs possess the manual dexterity to shoot a firearm, all you need to see is the above video and you will believe that they are very dangerous.

As someone who has seen the damage that woodchucks can do to both local gardens AND the faces of unsuspecting Mayors. I'd have to say that I'm rooting for The Merrimack PD.
