First Durham and now Rochester.

For the past six years, The Rochester Fireworks have been funded by the Journey Baptist Church of Barrington. But in a decsion that dates back to the beginning of the year, they will not be participating this year.

The Church has decided to put their efforts towards other community projects. The Rochester Jaycees were behind the fireworks before the church.

Fireworks in Rochester have generally been the responsibility of volunteer organizations, and have traditionally taken place on July 3rd. It is indeed quite an undertaking, as the Journey Baptist Church has needed upwards of 300 volunteers, almost a year of planning as well as a lot of money.

It is sad to see these traditions come to an end. Hopefully in both the cases of Durham and Rochester, this will be a temporary situation.
