The Portsmouth Naval Shipyard was awarded two environmental awards at the annual Secretary of the Navy Environmental Safety Excellence Awards ceremony in Washington D.C. yesterday.

The shipyard won the awards for Environmental Restoration-Installation and Cultural Resources Management-Small Installation.

This is the fourth year in a row that Portsmouth has received awards for its environmental programs.

Shipyard Commander, Capt. William Greene says, "Portsmouth Naval Shipyard's commitment to excellence extends beyond just our primary mission of overhaul, repair, and modernization of attack submarines. This recognition validates our environmental and sustainability goals and energizes our determination to continuously strive for environmental excellence."

Congratulations to all the hard working men and women at the Shipyard!
