The Portsmouth Police Department has issued a press release to warn people of an increase in vehicle break ins in the city.

The press release reminds everyone to remove your valuables from your vehicle and to always lock your doors. Here is the press release:

Over the past several days, the City of Portsmouth has experienced a sharp increase in the amount of vehicle break-ins across the city.  The majority of vehicles broken into were left unlocked and were gone through during overnight hours.

This is a friendly reminder to all of our residents to please lock the doors to your vehicles each and every night and to remove anything of value into your home.  This is the perfect season for opportunity for would be thieves.

We also ask that you be vigilant.  Please notify the Portsmouth Police Department if you see or hear anything that you may feel is out of the ordinary!!
