I was driving through Dover this morning and in a span of about 2 seconds, I noticed The Fish Shanty restaurant signs had been taken down, Cartelli's windows are papered over, and Kelley's Row has a 'For Sale' sign in front.

Though none of the closings took me by surprise, as they had all been reported by the news, it got me to thinking of the good times I've had at those spots.

It also got me to thinking of all the restaurants in Dover who's doors have long since been closed. Hannon's, The Firehouse, Horsefeathers, Howard Johnson's (on the hill long since occupied by Burger King), and who can forget their free birthday Sundae from Week's, or having a greasy but tasty early morning breakfast at The Spartan.

I didn't get my driver's license until 1980, and being from Durham, I was hopping on Rt.4 and heading to Portsmouth at that time, so I'm sure long time residents of Dover have an even longer list.

What else should be on the list?
