After over 40 seasons of singing our National Anthem, Rene Rancourt is calling it a career. He made his retirement announcement yesterday before hitting the ice to sing prior Boston v. Montreal game (Boston won the game 4-1)! Rancourt will hang up the microphone at the end of the 2017-2018 Bruins hockey season.

Rene, who is a native of Lewiston,Maine is well-known for his trademark fist-pumps at the end of the anthem.

One of the most memorable performances, in my opinion, of the National Anthem at the 'Gahden' was just a couple of days after the Boston Marathon bombing. Rene Rancourt started the 'Star Spangled Banner,' the crowd joined in and took over. I still get chills thinking about it. The anthem doesn't start playing until about 4 minutes into this video.
