The event on Wednesday the 17th, will include a video presentation by filmmaker Neil Novello, and will show never before scene film footage from inside the prison. It is free and open to the public, and is being held at the Rice Public Library.

The Naval Prison has long held the fascination of seacoast natives and tourists alike. On the Shark's Rockin' on the River cruises, one can certainly notice a drop in the festive chatter as The Thomas Laighton passes the prison's grounds and folks point and stare.

The prison, built in 1908, has been the subject of much folklore over the years, including Hollywood types the likes of Walt Disney and Humphrey Bogart.

The prison closed it's doors in 1974, and since then, there has been much speculation of what would become of it. After reading about it and viewing a preview of the documentary, I'd leave it as is.
