The second Saturday in May is when the U.S. Postal Service steps up to help 'Stamp Out Hunger'.

This is one of the nations largest food drives, and is led by the National Association of Letter Carriers.

This drive takes place in over 10,000 cities and towns throughout the U.S., and over the years has delivered more than one billion pounds of food to local community food banks.

Your part is easy. All you have to do is place a box of the non-perishable food you'd like to donate next to your mailbox before your letter carrier arrives to deliver Saturday's mail. They do all the heavy lifting. The donations will then be sorted and delivered to an area food bank or pantry.

So if you happen to do some grocery shopping before Saturday, or there's a non-perishable item or 2 in your fridge or cabinet you could donate, by all means help out.
