And anywhere else, for that matter.

I was happy to read that arrests were down this year at Hampton Beach over the Fourth of July weekend, 62 arrests compared to 70 last year.

But from the article above, it bummed me out to read that Hampton Fire Chief Jameson Ayotte was saddened to see the amount of trash left on Hampton Beach by the crowd. From seacoastonline:

He said the beach looked like a “landfill,” covered with wrappers, bottles, toys and even chairs completely abandoned.

“It was absolutely depressing after the people left to see how much garbage was left,” Ayotte said. “People are coming to the beach because they want to experience the coastline. It’s one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Don’t leave it as a garbage can.”

I can't imagine what the mind-set is of a person who thinks it's okay to leave their trash anywhere they see fit, especially when they are outside.

There are many trash receptacles situated in all of our beaches, parks, and hiking trails.

Pick up after yourselves people!
