The 2016 may be Red Sox are done, but 30 years ago they played a classic playoff game against the Angels.

David Ortiz is he best clutch hitter in Red Sox history. But well before Big Papi took that crown, outfielder David Henderson made his mark in Red Sox playoff lore in 1986, especially in the series they played against the Angels.

Game 5 of the American League Championship Series was played October 12th, 1986. It was a pleasant Sunday afternoon in New England. I know this because I was painting a friend's house in Milton, NH, and we had the game on the radio.

As usual with the Sox in the post-season, things were not looking good at this point. In fact, they trailed 5-2 after 8 innings when things took a turn for the better.

They went ahead in the 9th, but couldn't hold that lead. They finally won the game in the 11th inning and eventually moved on to play the Mets in the World Series.

I won't bore you with those details, instead, just remember this David Henderson hit in the top of the 9th, and try to remember where you were.

Hardly seems 30 years ago.
