A new study has come up with a 'corruption index' that estimates the most and least corrupt states in the U.S. It should come as no surprise to us Yankees where New Hampshire ranks.

Unless of course you're my father in-law who thinks all government is corrupt.

Based on convictions of public officials for violations of federal corruption laws and state spending, researchers from Indiana University and the University of Hong Kong have developed the 'corruption index.'

The 10 most corrupt states based on this index are:

  1. Mississippi
  2. Louisiana
  3. Tennessee
  4. Illinois
  5. Pennsylvania
  6. Alabama
  7. Alaska
  8. South Dakota
  9. Kentucky
  10. Florida

New Hampshire ranked among the least corrupt states in the union as well as Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Vermont, Utah, Colorado, and Kansas.

Another notch on the best state ever belt for the Granite State!
