One only has to turn to page 97 of the 2015 Old Farmer's Almanac for proof. Under the heading Winter, it states "Snowfall will be above normal in most of the Northeast, but below normal in much of New England."  Want to read what they predicted for two weeks ago when this whole snowmaggdon started?

On January 27th, the first day of the big storm 2 weeks ago, the Almanac predicted rain with the temperatures "quite mild".

For the rest of January (28-31) we were supposed to see a little snow, but then turning "sunny and mild". The temperature has been below normal for the past 2 weeks, and it hasn't been above freezing during that time.

Precipitation in February is to be "an inch below average .Feb 1-2, sunny, mild. Feb 3-8, rain and then periods of snow". Our weather prognosticators are all saying some of the coldest air of the season is headed our way this weekend. So let's check the Almanac.

Oh, good news! The Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting "sunny and seasonable weather from February 9-15". Hey, that's today! I feel warmer already.

Now I know why they still print this rag with the hole in the corner for the nail in the out-house. That's where it belongs.
